Realistically portraying what I see in the world is not my ultimate goal as an artist. Painting is about communicating the spirit of a place that I feel. We often forget to see the many layers of the reality surrounding us. When I paint I feel I am on a journey which for me unveils a deeper layer of seeing. I dive into the layers, sink into the mood of the light and explore the buzz of color. I am often awestruck by the emotion held within the land. Landscape painting is my way of honoring the sacred places that have supported my spirit and opened my heart.
